Why The Mormon Yoga Lady?

Drinking my homemade Yogi Tea!

This last year I started teaching Kundalini Yoga. I went through teacher training, and in the middle of training we moved to a new town, and into a new house. Which I love, by the way.

As a Mormon (member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, yes, I knew I'd have to throw that full name in there)... when you move you figure out what boundaries you are in to know  what ward (church building/time/group of people) to go to.

Well, right when we moved in, our neighborhood went from 3 or 4 wards to 6. So, many of them split and some wards became a combination of new homes, and people from two different wards. Like ours. That leaves a lot of people creating a new church community together, who don't actually know each other.

One family in the neighborhood has game nights about once a month for fun, also to get to meet more people. When I showed up one night another couple was already there, and when I was introducing myself the girl said "Are you the yoga lady?" At first I thought, "No" because there are so many wonderful and well known yoga ladies, but then I realized that in this sphere of our new little neighborhood I was the only person advertising, and (as far as I know) teaching yoga. So with pride and a little excitement at my title I said "Yes, I'm the Yoga Lady."

So, then why the MORMON YOGA LADY for a blog? Well, honestly my thoughts revolve around so many philosophic ideas all day, every day, and my religion is a huge part of that. It's where I started in my journey to know truth and where I feel it strongly.

So, here I am, the Mormon Yoga Lady.
Ready to share the many evolving thoughts, ideas, and truths I think about constantly.
